Healing Roots tells the tale of how Bajan (Barbadian) women use native plants and herbs, bush medicine as it is termed in Barbados, to help heal the body and the nation. It speaks to how these women continue African culture through their use of plants and asks us to think about what is lost on the island as we progress towards the status of a developed country. We want to present these women, and the rich history they hold, in an authentic manner that captures the vibrancy of Barbados and how these women, through time and space are able to resist and hold onto some aspects of identity.
