This collaborative project seeks to capture and embody the beauty of the textural feature of several of our local plants in artistic form. Guava, okra, sugar apple, tamarind and breadfruit are a few of the 20 plants thought to be of national and cultural value and importance in health and wellness in Barbados.

The final aim of this project is a colouring book that will serve as a tool for education and awareness. Of particular emphasis will be highlighting and identifying the fine details and features of these plants. The Biocultural Education and Research Programme has commissioned esteemed mixed media artist Llanor Alleyne to bring this vision to life.

Below are a few samples of the artwork that will form the pages of the colouring book. There will be an adult and junior version of the book. Both will be used for educational purposes.
